mikey, youre an inspiration man. you recovered, got back on your whip and said fuck this brain injury so fast it shows that i will get back on my bike soon. i love watching vids of you flowin and seein pics of you hitting rails cause i know it'll be me one day. my accident happened on dec 7 07 (when i was 15, 18 now)i got in a car wreck smacked my head and got a tbi. i was in a coma for 3 weeks also and we have matching cool scars. (trache, g tube)
when i woke up my left side was all fucked up. i am currently in the process of relearning stuff, (walking, talking) i'm still all fucked up, (in a wheelchair, typing with one hand, talking baby talk) but slowly but surely i'm making progress. whenever i see you ride i know its possible to recover from this fucking brain injury, so please, make more vids:)

On 7-7-07 I was in the same world of injury as Mike Aitken. Like I face planted a 14 foot drop after a huge fast plant on a vert wall and would spend over a month in the hospital with two of those weeks in the Neuro Trauma ICU with a TBI (traumatic brain injury),and another month living at a rehabilitation center. When I woke up my right side was paralyzed. I too had to relearn all the things he did (swallowing, walking, talking, memory issues, balance, etc….). I have just about given up, because my right side is still slow and weak and I have bad tremors in my foot. It has been two years since my accident and I continue to try to strengthen my body in hopes that it will heal. I miss my life on a bike. After watching the DEW tour and watching him flow the dirt jumps I have hope again. Here is the thing, I work out and try to do everything I can, and I just don’t know what to do to make this better and all the doctors around don’t understand what I do. I’m From Houston, Texas not a big headline state for our growing sport. I’ve been riding my whole life since I was 6, now I’m 26 and I can’t ride any more, and it hurts. I’m trying to get in touch with Mike, and maybe get some ideas on how he came out so well. I need ideas and thoughts on what to do to get back to a more normal life with bike riding. It would be nice to talk about this with someone who understands what the sport means, and also what the injury and recovery limitations are.

Thanks you very much
